The running ability of Adrian Martinez was on full display in the 3rd quarter of Friday night’s game between Nebraska and Rutgers.

Trailing 14-7 in the 3rd quarter, the Nebraska quarterback was able to turn a read option into a long touchdown run. Martinez held on to the football, got to the outside and was able to put one defender on skates as he raced 41 yards to the end zone.

Martinez’s 41-yard touchdown run was his 6th of the season. It tied the game at 14-14, too.

With that run, Martinez had 81 yards on the ground, approaching a 100-yard rushing game. At that time, he had also completed 15-of-18 passes for 166 yards.

Martinez’s touchdown run was a much needed boost for the Huskers, who were trailing by a touchdown on the road. Will it be enough to get the Huskers a win to close out the season?
