Bill Busch discusses promotion to special teams coordinator at Nebraska
Nebraska’s new special teams coordinator addressed his recent promotion in comments made Wednesday evening.
Bill Busch served as a defensive analyst for the Huskers in 2021 and was promoted to ST coordinator to begin the week. Busch brings him a wealth of coaching and recruiting experience with previous stints at LSU, Rutgers, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Utah State. He also spent previous stints in Lincoln from 1990-93 and 2004-07.
Busch made an appearance on Sports Nightly Wednesday to discuss the promotion and what he expects out of his unit. According to Busch, he wants his unit to be “situational masters” and prepared for every incident on the football field. He also called it “an honor” to be back with the Huskers and how he goes about his process in recruiting.
Jimmy Watkins with the Omaha World-Herald shared Busch’s comments:
Busch said he wants the Huskers to be “situational masters.” Said he’s never defended or executed a scenario where the field goal team has to sprint onto the field but plans to practice it every week.

Busch on his institutional knowledge from his time as an analyst: “I know where (players) can be pushed a little bit more. I know those that are completely bought in and how they can help bring someone else along. That’s a huge advantage to have that knowledge.”
