The McCaffrey family isn’t too happy with Nebraska head coach Scott Frost. They’re not holding back on Twitter, either.

During a speaking engagement on Wednesday, Frost was asked about the nature of the transfer portal after the Huskers have seen multiple players both transfer in to and out of the program. According to The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman, Frost referenced transfer quarterback Luke McCaffrey without mentioning his name.

After the 2020 season, McCaffrey transferred out of Nebraska and initially committed to Louisville but quickly decided to re-enter the transfer portal. He is now heading to Rice.

“Buckle up because this isn’t the last time you’re going to see this happening,” Frost said. “A lot of those kids are getting bad advice.”

Two of Luke’s brothers and current NFL players Christian and Max McCaffrey both responded to Frost’s comments with posts on Twitter. Neither were very pleased. Below are the tweets they sent out Wednesday night:

McCaffrey’s decision to leave the program came as a bit of a surprise during the offseason. At one point, Frost described the quarterback as “the future” for the Huskers. It was unlikely he’d get his shot at the starting job in 2021 with Adrian Martinez still in Lincoln.

With the access and ease of the transfer portal, more and more players are exploring their options in the offseason. Frost pointed that out on Wednesday.

Clearly the McCaffrey family took it personally.
