Bryce McGowens powers Nebraska to shocking road upset of No. 23 Ohio State
Don’t look now, but Nebraska has a winning streak in B1G play.
Heading into their final game of February, the Huskers were 1-16 in conference play. Now, Nebraska has won back-to-back games after taking down No. 23 Ohio State in Columbus Tuesday evening.
In the win, star freshman Bryce McGowens led Nebraska with 26 points on an 8-for-15 shooting night. Alonzo Verge Jr. also chipped in with 13 points and 11 assists to complete his double-double.
The Huskers were in control at halftime after erasing a 7-point deficit with 9 minutes left in the first half. Nebraska started hot in the second half and was able to make enough plays down the stretch for the win.
Ohio State was led by E.J. Liddell who posted a strong double-double with 27 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks. Unfortunately, Malaki Branham with 16 points was the only other starter with more than 6 points in the game.
While a second straight loss is not good for the Buckeyes, a bigger cause for concern right now is the health of the team this late in the season. Zed Key missed the game after injuring his ankle vs. Maryland, and Kyle Young started but did not finish Tuesday’s game with an illness.
