Casey Rogers shared a note Thursday emphasizing that he is keeping all of his options after entering his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

News broke Wednesday that the Nebraska defensive lineman was entering his name into the portal. Entering the portal often precedes transferring out, though players occasionally withdraw from the portal and return to the team. Rogers appears to be leaving the door open to playing for the Huskers again in 2022, based on his tweeted note:

“The past four years have been some of the most special years of my life. I have made countless memories here in Nebraska that I am very thankful for. This May I will be graduating from The University of Nebraska. With that being said, at this time I will be entering the NCAA portal to explore ALL of my options in obtaining the best possible education and continuing to play football for my last two years of eligibility. I am hoping all doors are open and none have closed, as I consider the options best for me.

“I am and will ALWAYS be a proud UNL Alumnus. Thank you to all that have touched my life thus far and have made Nebraska such a special place.”

It would be a big boost to Nebraska’a defensive line situation if Rogers opts to play for Scott Frost’s squad in 2022. After missing the first 5 games of the 2021 season, Rogers returned for the final 7 games, recording 17 tackles, including 3 for loss.
