The Heroes Game got off to an exciting start for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The Huskers started their 2nd offensive possession at their 13-yard line. On the 1st play, Casey Thompson hit a wide-open Trey Palmer who outraced the Iowa defense to the end zone for an 87-yard TD.

The big score gave Palmer 111 yards on the day, putting him just 11 shy of the Nebraska single-season receiving yards record set by Stanley Morgan Jr. in 2018.

After spending 3 seasons at LSU, Palmer transferred to Nebraska for the 2022 season. The receiver has had easily the most productive season of his career, and seems primed to enter the Nebraska record books.

The Huskers are looking to defeat the Hawkeyes for the 1st time since 2014. While the Huskers can not achieve bowl eligibility, a Heroes Game win would allow the team to end on a positive note.
