Casey Thompson is expected to visit Florida Atlantic next week, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, who notes that Thompson would be re-uniting with new FAU coach Tom Herman. Thompson previously played for Herman at Texas.

Thompson spent 3 seasons with Herman in Austin before the Longhorns made a change at head coach. He then played for 1 more season at Texas before making his way to Nebraska last season.

While with the Huskers, Thompson did not show significant growth. He completed 63.1% of his passes for 2,407 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His passer efficiency rating of 150.1 was slightly below his previous mark in 2021 when he was with Texas.

Thompson entered the portal in late April following spring ball in Lincoln. Nebraska added a significant competitor for the starting QB job this offseason in Georgia Tech transfer Jeff Sims.

Sims is now the heavy favorite to win the starting job. He’s thrown for 4,464 yards over 3 seasons in his collegiate career. He also rushed for 1,152 yards and 11 scores on the ground during his time with the Yellow Jackets.
