Nebraska is beefing up its schedule. Well, sort of.

The Huskers announced that they added Central Michigan to the 2020 schedule. The Chippewas will roll into Lincoln for a Sept. 19, 2020 showdown, which will mark the first ever meeting between the two schools.

It’s only the second game the Huskers have lined up for 2020. They have the season opener with Cincinnati locked down for Sept. 12 at Memorial Stadium.

Central Michigan has earned six bowl trips and three MAC titles in the last 10 years. The Chippewas have played non-conference Big Ten games against the likes of Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue in the last five years.

The Huskers will only need one more non-conference game to fill out the 2020 schedule. The Big Ten will be switching to nine conference games in 2016, which means each team will only play three non-conference games per season.
