Nebraska ended its season Friday with another 1 score loss, this time at the hands of bitter rival Iowa.

Nebraska finished the season 3-9 and lost all 9 games by single digits; that is the first time a team has ever done that in college football history.

Redshirt Freshman QB Logan Smothers started in place of QB Adrian Martinez, who underwent shoulder surgery this past Wednesday. Smothers had a solid game for the Huskers as he was 16-0f-22, for a 72% completion rate throwing for 198 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, a fumble and an interception.

Still, because of the way the game ended, Smothers looked dejected on the sideline. Head hanging down, OL Trent Hixson walked over and shared a special moment with the quarterback.

That’s the perfect embodiment of being a great teammate. It also goes to show that, despite a tough season, the Huskers have continued to work together in an effort to improve throughout the season.

Even though the game didn’t go as planned for the Huskers, that was an awesome moment to see.
