Chris Klieman was quick to give credit where credit was due in Kansas State’s stunning upset of TCU on Saturday.

Despite being favored by 7 on Saturday, the Horned Frogs fought a full four-quarter battle with the Wildcats. TCU was down late in the 4th, but battled back with a TD and successful two-point conversion to tie it 28 all at the end of regulation.

After the Kansas State defense shut down TCU on 4th & 1 on the goal line in first OT possession, Kicker Ty Zentner hit a 31-yard field goal in OT to hand the Horned Frogs their first loss of the season.

After the game, Klieman praised Adrian Martinez for his part in the win:

“Let’s compliment Adrian Martinez because Adrian Martinez has helped Will Howard. Things that Adrian went through, Will went through some of those. Those two have become best of friends. Those two are why we’re here,” the head coach stated.

Martinez was the starting QB for Kansas State until he suffered an injury in the Week 10 contest against Baylor. Howard assumed starter responsibilities for the injured Martinez and has played each game since. Klieman complimented Martinez for providing a path for Howard.

While Martinez did not get to play Saturday, his impact has made a big difference in his one season with the Wildcats.
