Chubba Purdy confirmed that he would be entering the transfer portal in a message to Nebraska fans on Thursday.

“Thank you Nebraska and thank you Husker Nation for all your support,” wrote Purdy. “I have entered the portal and have 2 years left of eligibility.”

The Queen Creek, Arizona-product began his career at Florida State in 2020 after being rated a 4-star recruit by 247 Sports. He saw the field sparingly over two seasons with the Seminoles, completing 32 passes for 317 yards and 4 touchdowns in a backup role to both James Blackman and Jordan Travis.

Purdy then moved on to Nebraska. He appeared in six games in 2022, throwing for only 147 yards and 3 interceptions that year.

The 2023 season was another rocky one for Purdy but partly due to being banged up early on. He eventually pushed for playing time behind Heinrich Haarberg and Jeff Sims, eventually starting the final 2 games of the season against Wisconsin and Iowa.

Purdy started the Wisconsin game with a bang but struggled with turnovers, including late interceptions in losses to Maryland and Iowa. He threw for 382 yards, ran for 180 yards and 3 total touchdowns this past season with 3 interceptions.

He has been noted for his work off of the field as well. Purdy was Academic All-Big Ten and a part of the Tommy Osborne and Brook Berringer Citizenship Teams in 2023.

Chubba is also the brother of current San Francisco 49ers quarterback and former Iowa State Cyclone Brock Purdy.
