College football fans, media roast Scott Frost after Nebraska trails Illinois at the half

Nebraska coach Scott Frost is under fire from fans and media following a disastrous first half for the Huskers at Illinois.

The Illini lead 16-9 at the break. This game included a multitude of errors from the Huskers, including:

  • A safety that was the result of an illegal forward pass in the end zone on a punt return
  • Missed extra point
  • Roughing-the-passer penalty that wiped out an interception
  • Fumble that became a game-changing scoop-and-score for Illinois in the final minute of the first half.

Quarterback Adrian Martinez also had a poor first half, despite a pair of nice throws that set up the Huskers’ only scores.

He ended the half 6-of-14 for 112 yards and missed several open receivers. Martinez was also the player who fumbled in the final minute of the first half, leading to Illinois’ second touchdown of the game.
