Contract details are now available for new Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts.

Omaha.com obtained details of his deal with Nebraska, which will pay him $800,000 per year in base pay.

Omaha.com’s Sam McKewon also reports that Alberts will receive bonuses depending on the Huskers’ performance in the Director’s Cup standings. Here’s a breakdown of the bonus structure:

  • Finish between 26th and 30th: $160,000
  • Finish between 21st and 25th: $180,000
  • Finish between 16th and 20th: $200,000
  • Finish in the top-15: $220,000

The Huskers have not finished in the top 30 of the Director’s Cup since 2015-16. They finished in 35th for the 2020-21 window.

Alberts will cash in on a $500,000 retention bonus if he is still at the school in July of 2026, per McKewon’s report. Alberts also gets a $100,000 bonus if the Huskers’ football program wins the Big Ten and $150,000 if they win the College Football Playoff.

Alberts is already facing a difficult job as the NCAA is reportedly investigating Scott Frost’s program for multiple violations.

Nebraska opens its 2021 season at Illinois on Aug. 28.
