Dana Holgorsen joined the Nebraska Cornhuskers in November. The former West Virginia and Houston head coach joined Matt Rhule’s staff after Marcus Satterfield was demoted.

Now, what seemed like a temporary position will become a permanent one for Holgorsen. The coach has agreed to a 2-year deal to become Nebraska’s full-time offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports. The deal will reportedly pay Holgorsen $1.2 million annually.

Under Holgorsen’s tutelage, the Huskers scored 44 points against Wisconsin to secure a bowl berth. This was the most points the Huskers had scored in a game in 3 years. In the coach’s 3 games running the offense, the team scored 20, 44, and 10 points.

Continuity will be a big thing for the Huskers going forward. Holgorsen is an experienced coach who should be able to help prized freshman Dylan Raiola grow at the QB position.

Holgorsen was the head coach at West Virginia from 2011-18. The coach compiled a 61-41 overall record with the Mountaineers and led the team to a bowl game in 7 of 8 seasons. In 2018, Holgorsen’s offense finished No. 10 in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.3 points per game.

The coach then spent 5 seasons as the head man in Houston before being fired last November. The Huskers will prepare for a bowl game after finishing with a 6-6 record.
