Dylan Raiola had an impressive freshman season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The former top prospect led the Huskers to a bowl game in his first season as the team went 6-6 in the regular season.

In the Pinstripe Bowl, Raiola broke a Nebraska freshman record previously set by Adrian Martinez in 2018. Counting the bowl game, Raiola threw for 2,823 passing yards in his freshman season. That’s the most passing yards ever by a Husker freshman.

During the regular season, Raiola threw for 2,595 yards with 12 TDs and 10 INTs. In the Pinstripe Bowl, Raiola added 228 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. While Raiola may not have had a Heisman-caliber season as a freshman, the flashes were there and the Huskers should have confidence going forward.

Martinez was another Nebraska QB who at one time had serious hype. During his freshman season in 2018, Martinez threw for 2,617 yards with 17 TDs and 8 INTs. The QB also rushed for 629 yards and 8 scores during his debut campaign and would go on to play for the Huskers for 4 seasons before ending his college career at Kansas State.

As for the current Huskers, Raiola led the team to its 1st bowl win since 2015. This will also be the 1st time the Huskers have finished with a winning record since the 2016 season.

The Huskers will now head into the 2025 season with a boatload of momentum. The team has bolstered the roster in the transfer portal, adding former top prospect edge rusher Williams Nwaneri.
