Dylan Raiola sounds off on Ohio State bottle throwing: 'It disrespects football'
Dylan Raiola and Nebraska gave it a full effort on Saturday, but the Cornhuskers ultimately fell to Ohio State 21-17 at Ohio Stadium.
The game took an ugly turn in the fourth quarter after Buckeyes linebacker Arvell Reese was ejected after a targeting call against him was upheld. Ohio State fans responded angrily, throwing bottles on the field in a scene similar to what happened at Texas in Week 8 against Georgia.
Raiola was asked about the incident after the game.
“The bottles being thrown is just, I don’t know. It just feels like it disrespects football and kind of the nature of it,” he said. “It happened and we have to get away from it.”
The Huskers retained possession after the targeting call, but weren’t able to get it into the end zone as the Buckeyes held on for the win to improve to 6-1. Nebraska fell to 5-3.
On the afternoon, Raiola was 21-of-32 for 152 yards, throwing 0 touchdowns and 1 interception while appearing to suffer a shoulder injury. He also carried the ball 9 times for 31 yards as Nebraska fell to 1-9 in the all-time series between the 2 teams while dropping their eighth straight game to the Buckeyes.
Nebraska, losers of 2 straight and currently 2-3 in the Big Ten, returns to Lincoln in Week 10 as it welcomes UCLA to Memorial Stadium.
