Ex-Nebraska head coach lands head coaching job in USFL
An ex-Nebraska head coach has landed another gig. Mike Riley has been announced as the head coach of the USFL’s New York Generals, according to The Comeback.
The USFL has announced their first four coaches which are:
Mike Riley – New York Generals
Kevin Sumlin- Houston Gamblers
Todd Haley- Tampa Bay Bandits

Riley coached at Nebraska from 2015-17 and amassed a 19-19 record. Riley also coached the then-San Diego Chargers from 1999-01, posting a 14-34 mark. The longest stint Riley has had is with Oregon State, where he coached from 1997-98 and 2003-14, totaling a 93-80 record.
Riley was selected as the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 2008 and captured two Annis Stukus trophies in 1988 and 1990.
Riley also served as the coach of the San Antonio Commanders from the now-defunct AAF. In that lone season, Riley was 5-3. As a collegiate player, Riley was a defensive back at Alabama from 1971-74.
