A former Nebraska and Scott Frost assistant is reportedly being released by North Carolina. Special teams coordinator/outside linebackers coach Jovan Dewitt is being let go by the Tar Heels, according to Football Scoop.

Dewitt was previously’s Frost’s associate head coach, special teams coordinator, and linebackers coach from 2016-17 at UCF, and then at Nebraska the next two seasons. Dewitt has also held FBS roles at Army and Florida Atlantic.

Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman was also not retained by North Carolina.

North Carolina began the season ranked in the top 10 but finished with a 6-7 record after losing to South Carolina in the Mayo Bowl. Nebraska finished the season with a 3-9 record and on a six-game losing streak. The Cornhuskers last victory came vs. Northwestern on Oct. 2.
