One of the biggest names in the transfer portal is heading to Nebraska.

Saturday afternoon, former TCU defensive end Ochaun Mathis announced on social media that he will be transferring to Nebraska. He had been deciding between Nebraska and Texas.

Mathis spent the past four seasons at TCU before entering the NCAA transfer portal. His best season came in 2020 statistically, when he racked up 12.5 tackles for loss and 8 sacks.

Last season, Mathis had 45 total stops with 4 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. He was also credited with 3 pass break-ups.

Mathis will add immediate experience, talent and depth to a Nebraska defensive line that needs a boost. Although the Huskers showed major signs of progress on that side of the football in 2021, a lot of talent has departed the program.

Nebraska is coming off a 3-9 campaign in 2021 and Scott Frost is charged with turning things around in 2022. Because of the work he and his staff have done in the portal, the Huskers are in good shape to see a big shift this fall.
