Major news broke on Wednesday morning, with Brett McMurphy of Action Network reporting that Nebraska’s football program and head coach Scott Frost ire under NCAA investigation.
Per the report, the program is under investigation for improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games. The schools has “significant video footage,” confirming that those violations occurred in the presence of Frost and other members of the football staff.
Allegations of the improper use of analysts date back 12 months. Frost has obtained legal counsel and the NCAA has reportedly interviewed the head coach and multiple staff members.
With the news breaking so close to the start of the season, there were plenty of reactions from fans and media. Some found it to be a big deal, while others dismissed the potential violations:

Is real life? Last week, after years, NCAA said it couldn’t conclude that Baylor violated rules when the school failed to report/respond to allegations of sexual violence… meanwhile, the NCAA starts a witch-hunt against Nebraska for holding practices?
You are the problem, NCAA. https://t.co/CVAKLRYwkN

NCAA investigations are painfully slow. It’s too soon to speculate on the significance of this. At a minimum, it’s another mishap and distraction that they don’t need.

This seems trivial in the grand scheme of investigations. That's like letting a murderer go free but focusing your time and effort to catch a j walker. https://t.co/i3A6JyC2Bd

Quite the range in reaction.
Nebraska also allegedly relocated its strength workouts to an undisclosed location to avoid the school knowing about it during the pandemic. That would be another NCAA violation based on the policies implemented during the last year, but it’s unclear if the Huskers are currently under investigation for that.
It’s unclear what penalties would be enacted if the allegations are found to be true. However, McMurphy cited a source saying that Frost could face a suspension and miss time during the 2021 season.
