Nebraska recently got a pleasant surprise on the recruiting trail from a local prospect. Omaha (Neb.) Millard South ATH Gage Stenger has flipped his commitment from Kansas State to Nebraska.

The 6-foot-2, 205 pound Stenger announced the decision on his Twitter account:

“At this time it is best for me to announce that I will be changing my commitment from Kansas State University and will be following a new path…” Stenger said. “I would like to announce my commitment to the University of Nebraska! I’m staying home.”

The versatile Stenger has played linebacker, running back, receiver and quarterback during his high school career. Stenger is envisioned as an insider linebacker at the college level, according to Rivals.

Nebraska is currently 3-4 this season. Last week, Nebraska was narrowly edged by No. 9 Michigan 32-29. Next up for Nebraska is a road matchup at Minnesota on Oct. 16 (12 p.m. EST/ESPN2).
