Nebraska added a walk-on defensive back to its 2021 recruiting class on Monday evening.

Michael Booker, the son of a former Husker by the same name, committed via Twitter:

Booker is a 6-foot-1 defensive back from Grand Prairie, Texas.

His father was a standout for the Huskers, claiming several accolades in his collegiate career. He was MVP of the 1996 Fiesta Bowl and was a member of the 1994 and 1995 National Championship teams. He was also second-team All Big 12 in 1996.

After a successful career in Lincoln, he was drafted in the first round of the 1997 NFL draft at No. 11 overall by the Atlanta Falcons. He went on to have a five-year career in the NFL that included eight interceptions and 14 pass deflections.

Nebraska coach Scott Frost also played for the Huskers in the mid 1990s, overlapping with Booker in 1994 and 1995.
