Former Nebraska hoops star lands gig as assistant at Utah
A former star for the Huskers has landed a new gig as an assistant in the Pac-12.
On Monday, Utah Basketball officially announced the addition of Brandon Ubel to the staff of head coach Craig Smith. According to the release, Ubel will take over the Director of Scouting role. Ubel was also a part of Smith’s staff at Utah State, and Smith was also an assistant at Nebraska during Ubel’s career.
“We are thrilled to announce that Brandon will be joining the Runnin’ Utes basketball family,” said Smith via press release. “He brings a little bit of everything to our staff. Brandon is all about relationships and working hard. He has a mindset of helping others understand whatever the situation may be. When I coached Brandon, I always told him I am going to hire him someday. So pumped that day has arrived.”
