After initially leaving the team in February, a former Nebraska kicker has decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Barret Pickering announced in a message on Twitter that he has decided to explore options to continue his college football career. He will be graduating from the University of Nebraska in November and will have immediate eligibility at his next stop as a graduate transfer.

“I’ve enjoyed my experienced as a Husker and am proud to be graduating from the University of Nebraska this November,” Pickering wrote. “While I will miss my former teammates and best friends, I am excited [to] move on to the next chapter of my life and enter the transfer portal in hopes of pursuing a graduate degree.”

Pickering was one of six players to attempt a field goal or extra point for the Huskers during the 2019 season. He kicked in four games for Nebraska, making 3-of-5 field goal attempts and converting all 10 extra points. He also booted 9 kickoffs.

The previous year, Pickering handled all field goal duties for Nebraska. He finished the year knocking down 14-of-18 attempts and was successful on 40-of041 PAT tries.
