A former Nebraska offensive line coach is heading to the Pac-12.

SunDevilSource.com is reporting that Mike Cavanaugh is set to be hired at Arizona State to be the next offensive line coach for the program. He’s currently in the same role at Syracuse, where he’s spent the last three seasons.

Cavanaugh was a three-year assistant coach at Nebraska under head coach Mike Riley. He served as the offensive line coach for the Huskers from 2015-17 but was not retained when Riley was fired and Scott Frost was named the next head coach in Lincoln.

Cavanaugh has been coaching at the college or professional level for 35 years.

The Pac-12 will be somewhat of a return home for Cavanaugh, as he had his longest stint at Oregon State on Riley’s staff. He was the Beavers offensive line coach from 2005-14. Previous stops also include Hawaii, Ferris State, Sacred Heart, Alma College, Murray State, Albany and Wesleyan College (Connecticut).

Arizona State played just 4 games in 2020 and finished 2-2.
