A former Nebraska quarterback is reportedly entering the transfer portal once again.

Casey Thompson, a former Texas QB who transferred to Nebraska for one season before landing at FAU for 2023, told ESPN that he’s testing the waters of the transfer portal for a potential 7th season in college football.

In his 3 games with FAU before he sustained his ACL injury, Thompson compiled 509 passing yards, 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Thompson’s best game this past season was in a 42-20 win over Monmouth, when he was 20-of-25 for 280 yards, 5 TDs and an interception.

Thompson’s career so far includes 5,338 passing yards, 52 TDs and 24 INTs. In 2022 with the Huskers, Thompson had 2,407 yards, 17 TDs and 10 INTs. His best season with the Longhorns was in 2021, where Thompson finished with 2,113 passing yards, 24 TDs and 9 interceptions.

FAU went 4-8 during Thompson’s 2023 campaign, missing out on bowl eligibility in the process.
