Nebraska fans had a reason to tune into Friday night’s preseason matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.

Former Husker backs Ameer Abdullah and Devine Ozigbo were both on the field Friday evening, Abdullah suiting up for the Vikings while Ozigbo was in a Saints uniform. Both had solid outings for their respective teams.

Abdullah was the star performer of the two, registering 63 yards on just four carries. That included a 42-yard run on the New Orleans defense.

Ozigbo racked up 20 yards on three carries on the night, which included an 11-yard run. He also caught one pass for nine yards, showing off his versatility out of the backfield.

Unfortunately, neither former Nebraska star was able to cross the goal line in their NFL preseason opener of 2019.

This year will mark the fifth year in the NFL for Abdullah. He spent the first four-and-a-half seasons with the Detroit Lions, tallying 1,251 rushing and 430 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns in that time.

Ozigbo was an undrafted free agent following the 2019 NFL Draft. He signed a deal with the Saints.
