Former Nebraska standout Lavonte David has been named a finalist for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, presented yearly to the NFL player who represents “outstanding sportsmanship on the playing field.”

Each team nominates 1 player for the award each season, later whittled to 8 with a winner being selected at NFL Honors in February.

The winner is granted a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to the charity of their choice.

David has been in the league since 2012, spending all those years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This season, he has totaled 90 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 pass deflections and 2 sacks.
