A former Nebraska star has scored his first touchdown in the NFL Playoffs of his career.

Sunday, the New England Patriots hosted the San Diego Padres in the AFC Divsional round of the NFL Playoffs. Everything was going the way of the Patriots in the first half, building a 28-7 lead midway through the second quarter.

One of the players to reach the end zone in Sunday’s first half was former Huskers star Rex Burkhead. The running back took a handoff six yards and crossed the goal line. It was the first time he’s scored in an NFL Playoff game.

Burkhead appeared in eight games for the Patriots this season, taking 57 carries for 186 yards. The touchdown on Sunday was his first score of the season.

In his six-year NFL career, Burkhead has rushed for 825 yards and eight touchdowns. He spent his first four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Patriots in 2017.
