Nebraska finished a disappointing 10-22 last season, Fred Hoiberg’s 3rd season with the program. The Huskers did show some promise late, rattling off wins against Penn State, Ohio State and Wisconsin before a B1G Tournament loss to Northwestern.
Unfortunately, Nebraska will need to replace some key pieces from that team. Leading scorer Bryce McGowens and his brother, Trey McGowens, are both off to the NBA Draft. Forward Lat Mayen is also going professional in Australia.
In a radio appearance Tuesday evening, Hoiberg discussed what has transpired so far this offseason. Among other things, Hoiberg called Derrick Walker’s return one of the most important moves of the offseason and said fans will enjoy Alabama transfer Juwan Gary.
Jimmy Watkins with the Omaha World-Herald shared Hoiberg’s comments:
Hoiberg: Derrick Walker’s return is “as important a move” as Nebraska has made this offseason. Called Walker NU’s “heart and soul” along with Trey McGowens

Wilhelm Breidenbach update: Huskers will take it “slow and cautious” with his return, but the second-year forward is right on track. Has added muscle too

Who’s gonna have the ball next year? Hoiberg names Sam Griesel, Ramel Lloyd, Emmanuel Bandoumel as potential perimeter creators. Also said Quaran McPherson had a very productive redshirt year
