Redshirt freshman linebacker Guy Thomas is leaving Nebraska, according to a report.

On Thursday, Omaha World-Herald reported that Thomas had asked for and been granted release from his scholarship. His departure means that all four linebackers that committed to the Huskers’ 2017 class have left the program.

The three linebackers that left prior to Thomas were Avery Roberts, Andrew Ward and Willie Hampton.

As a redshirt freshman, Thomas played in just four games in the 2018 season, making four tackles. Three of those stops came against Bethune-Cookman.

Thomas is a native of Miami, Florida and was a 3-star prospect as a recruit. He was expected to have a quick impact for the Huskers defense but never saw much of the field.

Out of high school, Thomas had several offers but chose Nebraska over other programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Michigan and Georgia.
