Garrett Nelson uses colorful metaphor to describe Nebraska's host of close losses
Nebraska has a problem with closing out games. That’s not news to anyone that has watched the Huskers over the past few seasons.
Despite a very competitive squad in 2021, wins never materialized. Without rehashing all the close losses, Scott Frost admitted at B1G Media Days that the Huskers are still searching for “more of a killer instinct” to finish out games as wins instead of losses.
During the player availability part of Media Days, Nebraska linebacker Garrett Nelson conjured up a colorful metaphor for the close losses. This is what he had to say about the topic to BTN’s Dave Revsine:
“It was kind of like going to a bar Friday night and talking to a chick, then her boyfriend comes over and takes her home.”

That’s one way to put it. It will be interesting to see if the Huskers can flip the script in 2022, beginning with the season-opening trip to Ireland to face Northwestern.
