It appeared that Nebraska safety Nate Gerry made a huge hit to blow up a play behind the line of scrimmage.

The junior delivered a crushing hit, but it was called targeting. And somehow, after it was reviewed, the Foster Farms Bowl official still called targeting.

That marked the second straight game in which Gerry received a targeting penalty. This one, however, is far more questionable than the one that got him tossed against Iowa.

Unfortunately for the Huskers, the call means that they’ll be without their best defensive back against one of the nation’s best quarterbacks, and all because of that questionable call.
