Randy Gregory is running out of chances.

The former Nebraska star has been given a couple of them by the Dallas Cowboys in his brief NFL career. Now, he’ll need another one to see the field anytime soon.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that Gregory checked himself into a treatment center and that he won’t be reporting to Cowboys camp when it starts later this week.

Gregory was already facing a four-game suspension for the start of the season after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Under that agreement, he was allowed to practice with the team and participate in team activities.

Now, however, that won’t be the case.

Adam Schefter reported that Gregory is in the treatment center because of another failed drug test. If that’s the case, he would be facing additional punishment from the NFL.

It’s another frustrating development for a guy Jerry Jones recently said was “the most talented pass-rusher of the last two drafts.”

Gregory went from a possible top-five pick to a second-round pick in the 2015 draft following his admission that he failed multiple drug tests in his final season in Lincoln.

Perhaps rehab will provide Gregory the direction he needs to get back on the field and back to delivering on his potential as an edge-rusher.
