Highlights from Nebraska’s open spring practice on Saturday

After a long absence, fans were finally welcomed back inside Memorial Stadium over the weekend to catch their first glimpse of Nebraska’s 2021 football team.

On Saturday, the Huskers hosted an open practice for fans to attend, the first of two events for fan attendance this year. On May 1, the team will also welcome Nebraska supporters to Memorial Stadium for the annual spring game to close out the spring practice schedule.

The weekend’s open practice was not televised, but there were plenty of highlights that have expectations rising in Lincoln. There’s renewed hope that the offense will show big improvement from last season and the defense can pick up where it left off in the 2020 campaign.

This is a big offseason for head coach Scott Frost, who is 12-20 in three seasons as the Huskers leader. With a big game against Illinois to open the season in Week 0, it’s imperative Nebraska gets off to a good start to try to return to the postseason for the first time since 2016.
