Nebraska has landed a quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class. The commitment of Richard Torres was announced on Monday afternoon via social media.

Torres, who recently visited Nebraska on June 4, gave his verbal commitment to Scott Frost and Nebraska this week. He becomes the fourth player from the 2022 recruiting cycle to pledge to the program.

“I want to thank every single coach who has recruited me in this long and very tough recruitment process,” Torres wrote on Twitter. “With that being said I would like to announce that I will be committing to….The University of Nebraska!!”

Torres is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound quarterback out of San Antonio. He’s received a 3-star rating from 247Sports’ Composite and is ranked as one of the Top 60 quarterbacks of the 2022 class. The Texas native picked Nebraska over offers from seven other programs.

Other schools to show interest include Kansas State, San Diego State, Tulsa, UNLV, Utah, UTSA and Washington State.

Torres joins a 2022 recruiting class at Nebraska that is still pretty slim right now. The Huskers have just four verbal commitments, ranking No. 12 in the B1G and No. 59 nationally. June and July tend to be heavy recruiting months, though, so change could come rapidly in Lincoln.
