Report: Police investigating rape at home of Nebraska stars
According to the Lincoln Journal-Star, police are investigating an alleged rape at the home of Nebraska football players Tommy Armstrong and Jordan Westerkamp.
The report said that “a 20-year-old woman went to a Lincoln hospital that afternoon and said she was subjected to forced sexual intercourse at 5411 N. 11th St.,” Officer Katie Flood said.
No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.
The football team returned to Lincoln at 12:30 a.m. following a victory against Rutgers in New Jersey. Armstrong said that they “were partying” following the win. According to the alleged victim, the assault occurred at the house between 2:15-9:15 a.m. Sunday morning.
The report didn’t reveal who the woman was with. Armstrong told the World-Herald that he was “confused” about the whole situation, and that he and his roommates had heard it was consensual.
Armstrong told the Omaha World-Herald, police came to the house to interview Armstrong, Westerkamp and teammate Trey Foster. Armstrong said that police told him following the interviews that “they’d be fine.”
The university released this statement following the release of the report:
“The University of Nebraska Athletics Department is aware of an allegation made over the weekend. We are currently cooperating with law enforcement officials and the University’s Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance. We will have no further comment at this time.”
