Barnett, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound offensive lineman, played in 11 career games at Nebraska, all of which came in 2016. Though he was a member of the team last season, he didn’t see any playing time.
He was entering the 2018 season as a redshirt junior.
Nebraska’s first game comes on Sept. 1 when it hosts Akron.
