One of the top junior college safeties in the 2018 recruiting class gave his commitment to Nebraska on Sunday afternoon.

Deontai Williams, a 6-foot, 175-pound safety out of Jones County Junior College, visited Lincoln over the weekend and tweeted that he will be in a Huskers uniform next fall. He becomes the 12th commitment of the 2018 class.

Williams is tabbed as a three-star player according to 247Sports, but is ranked as the second-best junior college safety available. He’s also listed as a top 30 player among junior college talent.

Originally, Williams had committed to Florida back in June 2017 and was committed up through this month. He decommitted from the Gators on December 7 before giving his pledge to Scott Frost and the Huskers on Sunday.

Frost also pursued Williams while he was at UCF. The other school in play was Ole Miss.

Nebraska currently has the 12th-best recruiting class in the B1G and ranks 44th nationally. Frost as done an incredible job salvaging this class after several four-star prospects decommitted from the program following Mike Riley’s termination.
