It took Nebraska fans one day to purchase over 1,000 travel packages for 2021 Ireland game
The most well-traveled fanbase in college football is already living up to its name. It doesn’t matter where games are played, Nebraska fans show up in full force. Even if it’s overseas.
Recently, Nebraska and Illinois announced that they will play a Week 0 B1G contest in Dublin, Ireland to open the 2021 season. It’s a unique opportunity for the student-athletes to enjoy a venture outside the country, and a chance for both programs to get excellent exposure on the first Saturday of the season.
A lot of folks were excited about this scheduling announcement, but it sounds like Nebraska fans were especially enthusiastic about it. They’ve already purchased travel packages at an incredible rate.
Per Parker Gabriel of Husker Extra, Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos said that 1,200 fans have purchased travel packages on the first day of sales. That’s a pretty remarkable number, considering the game is still nearly two years away.

But, fans want to secure their travel plans (and their seats) as soon as possible. Knowing how well the Sea of Red travels, it may not take long for the Huskers to sell their allotment.
It should be a really fun experience for everyone involved.
