Jeff Sims made his much-anticipated debut for Nebraska in Week 1. Unfortunately, that performance did not go quite the way the quarterback had hoped.

On the road against Minnesota, Sims threw a pair of first-half interceptions, including one in the red zone that wiped potential points off the board. Then, with a chance to put together a game-winning drive, Sims threw his 3rd pick of the game as the Gophers would kick a winning field goal as time expired.

Sims addressed the media on Wednesday coming off that loss and looking forward to a Week 2 game against Colorado. The QB admitted there’s no time to dwell on the performance.

As for his biggest frustration in the game, Sims admitted he was upset that he could not come through when his team needed him. That’s the biggest aspect that “kind of stuck with” Sims after the Week 1 loss.

Coming out of the loss, head coach Matt Rhule has praised Sims for his leadership. Rhule also said he’s not the first QB to throw 3 picks but noted “the great ones bounce back.”

Now, Sims gets a chance to have a bounce-back performance on the national stage. Nebraska travels to face Colorado on the road as a part of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff in Week 2.
