Joel Klatt explained why Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph will have a challenging start to his new job against Oklahoma.

Joseph will make his debut as Nebraska’s interim head coach in a massive home game for Nebraska. It will be a hard task for Joseph to bring a team together in a game against one of the best teams in the country.

While talking on his podcast, “The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast,” Klatt explained why this was a tough situation for Joseph to start his interim tenure in:

“When you fire your coach after the 3rd game, it’s a dumpster fire. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it,” Klatt said. “So, Mickey Joseph gets the interim job and this is not an easy task for Mickey Joseph. He’s got to try to retain some level of buy in and discipline from the current players and buy in and discipline from, and this is the tough part, his own staff.”

Joseph was thrusted into a chaotic situation and he will have to pick up the pieces for the program. He is in his first season at Nebraska and will have to figure out how to turn the season around. Nebraska currently holds a 1-2 record through 3 games.

Klatt will be calling Joseph’s debut against Oklahoma for Fox on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
