Jordy Bahl said when she announced she’d be leaving Oklahoma that she wanted to grow the game of softball in her home state.

The 2-time national champion made the move official on Thursday, revealing that she was returning home to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In the days since, the Huskers have taken in over 2,000 requests to join the wait list for softball season tickets. According to The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman, the Huskers had fewer than 400 season ticket-holders prior to Bahl’s transfer.

Husker fans, as always, never fail to support their own.

The Omaha Storm Chasers — Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals — will hold “Jordy Bahl Day” on Friday, June 30, in what will be Bahl’s first appearance as a Husker.

Excitement is at an all-time high following one of the more unlikely moves in college sports history.

After helping Papillion-LaVista to 3 consecutive Class A state titles, Bahl committed to Oklahoma as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class. From there, she became an NFCA First Team All-American as a freshman, set the program record for strikeouts by a freshman in a game (16), tossed a no-hitter, and registered a perfect game on Feb. 25, 2022.

Bahl led OU to a 61-1 record this season, a mark that included an NCAA softball record 53 straight wins as the Sooners marched to a third consecutive national championship. She went 22-1 in 38 appearances and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Women’s College World Series after pitching 24 innings without allowing a single run.

And she’s already having an impact on her new team before she even pitches a game for the Huskers.
