Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso weigh in on Nebraska's decision to keep Scott Frost through 2022
News broke earlier in the week that Nebraska will restructure Scott Frost’s contract and retain him for a 5th year. Nebraska has also announced that it’s fired much of the offensive staff but is keeping tight ends coach Sean Beckton.
ESPN’s College GameDay talked about the restructured contract and keeping Frost.
Here is what Lee Corso had to say about the decision to keep Scott Frost, albeit his 3-7 record this season.
“I said it last week and I’ll say it again, Tom Osborne is the secret at Nebraska,” said Corso. “As long as he’s around, Scott Frost will be the coach at Nebraska. Unless he doesn’t want to be. That’s a key point.”
Herbstreit also loved the move from athletic director Trev Alberts.
“I applaud Trev Alberts for sticking with Scott Frost. Here’s a team that’s 3-7,” said Herbstreit. “The easy thing to do right now — social media era — is throw a coach out, start anew, get the fans excited about a new coach. This team has lost all 7 games by 9 points or less. Critical errors have cost them. Do you know how easily this team could flip that record and be 7-3 or 8-2? I love that Trev still sees signs (this team is improving).”
Nebraska is idle this week.
