Late schedule change: Nebraska finds new opponent, alters date of home opener
Husker fans will be able to get back into Memorial Stadium a little earlier than expected for the 2021 season.
On Monday, Nebraska announced that it has made a late schedule change and has found an opponent for Saturday, Sept. 4, which had previously been scheduled as a bye week. The Huskers will take on Illinois in Champaign on Saturday, Aug. 28.
Nebraska will host FCS opponent Fordham on Sept. 4, pushing the home opener up by one week. Previously, the team was scheduled to have its first game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 11 when Buffalo came to Lincoln.

Fordham will replace Southeastern Louisiana on the schedule. The Huskers were scheduled to play that game on Saturday, Nov. 13. That date will now be the bye week.
The Huskers will now play Fordham, Buffalo and Oklahoma in consecutive weekends as part of the nonconference schedule in 2021.
