Lavonte David accomplished a lot inside the walls of Memorial Stadium. As a Nebraska linebacker, he has plenty of fond memories while on the field wearing the red and white.

Over the weekend, David added another fond memory to his collection. And while it was in a place where he dominated on the field, his most recent trip back to Memorial Stadium had nothing to do with football. It was all about education.

David returned to Lincoln this weekend to participate in the University of Nebraska’s commencement ceremony after earning his degree. In a video posted by the football program, the NFL linebacker said receiving that college degree is one of the biggest accomplishments of his life.

It’s been quite a year for David, who helped lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory over Kansas City this season. Now, he’s finished his education at Nebraska and is a college graduate.

David spent two years at Nebraska, suiting up for the Huskers in 2010 and 2011. After a stellar career in Lincoln, he was selected as a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and has been a first-team All-Pro, a Pro Bowler, a two-time second-team All-Pro and now a Super Bowl champion.
