Nebraska signee Malachi Coleman showed out in the Polynesian Bowl.

The 4-star WR out of Lincoln East High School had 2 TDs in the game, including the 1st score for either team. Coleman’s 2nd TD came in the 3rd quarter and gave his team, Team Makai, a 17-13 lead.

Coleman’s Team Makai fell to Team Mauka, 22-17.

Keeping Coleman in the state was a priority for new Huskers HC Matt Rhule. The star WR originally committed to the Huskers in October, but later decommitted in December during the ongoing coaching change.

There was speculation that Coleman would join Deion Sanders in Colorado or commit to Georgia leading up to the Early Signing Period.

However, Coleman stated that Rhule convinced him to stay home, and the top recruit again committed and signed with the Huskers before Christmas. Rated the top player out of Nebraska in the 2023 recruiting cycle by the 247 Sports Composite, Coleman is the top-ranked signee for Rhule’s first recruiting class in Lincoln.
