Malachi Coleman, Nebraska’s top-ranked 2023 commit, has announced his decision to decommit from the school.

Coleman’s decision comes as a result of both the Matt Rhule hire and the Mickey Joseph situation. The star prospect cited the recent coaching changes at Nebraska as a reason to step back and reevaluate Nebraska and other programs.

Coleman, a 4-star athlete, is ranked No. 82 in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings and was the leader in Nebraska’s now 49th ranked class.

Coleman is listed as an athlete and has made big plays on both sides of the ball throughout high school. During his senior season, he racked up 17 catches for 561 yards and 10 scores, a true big play threat while also lining up at defensive end. Wherever he winds up, Coleman has the physical traits to be a game-changer on either side of the football.

It is definitely a huge blow to start Rhule’s tenure but they will likely continue to pursue the 6-foot-5, 205-pound prospect.
