Mark Whipple is not settled on a QB yet for Nebraska. He announced on Wednesday that the Huskers are currently splitting the first-team reps in fall camp.

According to Whipple, Casey Thompson and Chubba Purdy are the two players currently taking reps at the starting spot. For now, Logan Smothers is penciled in as the third QB on the depth chart.

This is an interesting development under center for Nebraska in fall camp. Scott Frost previously tabbed Thompson as the frontrunner, saying it was his job to lose. Thompson may still be the frontrunner, but it is certainly interesting that Purdy is getting his share of first-team reps right now.

As far as Wednesday’s practice goes, Whipple was more than critical of his unit. The OC admitted Nebraska’s defense won the session and harped on the effort and mentality of his unit.
