Marques Buford Jr. spoke about what it has been like for the players at Nebraska with having to play for two different head coaches this season. He spoke to Brian Christopherson of 247Sports about it.

For Buford, he is keeping his focus forward. Buford has 18 solo tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 pass deflection so far this season.

“I know me personally, I take it like we still got a game next week,” safety Marques Buford Jr. said when I asked this week how tough it is for a college athlete in these circumstances. “We don’t have a choice but to come out and win. For me, you can’t let everything deter your mind off the main thing. The main thing always has to stay the main thing.”

As one of the leaders on the team, Buford says that’s what the message in the locker room has been. At the end of the day it comes down to trusting the coaches on the staff to do the best that they can.

I would say that’s pretty much where we’ve been trying to keep everybody’s head at in the locker room. We know that the coaches we have on this staff – they’re great people, they’re great coaches – so we just got to trust them and trust that they have our best interests and do everything to put us in the best positions. Because at the end of the day, all they can do is put us in position. We have to go out on the field and make the plays.

Can Buford and the rest of the Cornhuskers finally breakthrough for Mickey Joseph’s first win as interim HC?
